Paul - a newly-formed Twitter friend - opened Pandora’s Box with these:
1 - What single idea, dream, thought, etc. most defines where you’d like to be in 10 years — and I’m not talking just geographically here.
Balance. I never seem to have that. There is always one aspect of my life that is tilted higher than another — be it work, family, relationships, money. I’m dating someone, but my job sucks. Or my friends are going on vacations, and I have no spare cash. I dream of the day that I can have “everything” (very, very broad definition of the word, as I truly do not believe in having everything you think that you want) — and that all those things will be copacetic with each other.
Sky dive. Ireland. Budapest. Climb Kiliminjaro. See the Northern Lights. Hike a volcano. Work or study abroad. Find a gemstone in its natural environment. And jump off the New River Gorge Bridge on Bridge Day in West Virginia. I also want to elope and not tell anyone. Last one is silly, right?
3- If you could only keep and support one possession, what would it be?
I have a notebook which contains everything that I have ever written — from elementary school to writing competency tests in junior high school to my clippings as a teen correspondent at the Star Beacon. All my college papers. EVERYTHING. I really need to get these into a digital format too. I almost lost this once. Great story, by the way. When I transferred high schools, the “notebook” remained in a file room somewhere in Mentor High School. My HSS fought for every piece of his heart to find that notebook after I moved — as I said, that contained everything written as we progressed within the Mentor school system. He found it. It was one of the most amazing things that anyone has ever done for me.
4- As a variation to the question asked by Alexa, if there was one part of your being, physical, mental, or emotional) that you could snap your fingers and change, what would it be, and how would you change it?
Boredom. I seriously have some ADD issues, yet I’m extremely passionate. But I bore extremely easy. Which, if you’re familiar with boredom, it makes for a great instability in life, work, dating, etc. I like to blame my procrastination on boredom as well. The only way I deal is to always be re-energizing my psyche with new things, people, ideas, adventures. I have no idea how to change it. But I enjoy a pretty awesome life as a result. Lots of stories for my nieces and nephews.
5- What is the most rewarding part of your writing? The personal catharsis, or the entertainment it provides to others?
Even though I’m not really all that anonymous anymore, when I write, it still feels like that at some level. Which prompts me to really pour out my emotions — even if I’m not quite familiar with how I’m dealing at the time. And it certainly helps to dispel all that anger that I feel on a regular basis. Plus it’s good to see the progress of a relationship in hindsight, as to trust my instints the next go around.

The older I get, the bigger urge I get to elope and not tell anyone. I find it highly romantic.
