I’m sure most of you with blogs realize how annoying it is when you spend a decent effort in creating a post (complete with links), only to have the computer crash — or worse, WordPress not save it — no matter how many times that “last saved/edited” time stamp comes up in the sidebar. *sigh* So, in an effort to not piss myself off in redundancy, here’s the (somewhat) short list:
Friday, drove to Columbus to see my buddy Todd Barry perform with Louis CK at the Capitol Theater. Both had intentions to come out and join my friend Lori and I for a few drinks. Louis CK drove all the way to the restaurant, then pussed out for some inexplicable reason. Regardless of his lame intentions to return to his hotel room alone, he really was a nice guy. Todd, Lori and I had a splendid time catching up over awful wine at the Burgundy Room in the Short North. I am certainly no wine snob, but both of my pours were really just shit. Overly-dry shit. Although, my winter squash ravioli over cranberry/bleu cheese/apple chutney was fantastic. It’s truly a shame it only included two pieces for $8. And those two pieces were the size of a Gino’s pizza roll. Srsly.
After my return to Cleveland on Saturday afternoon, my friends scheduled a homemade pasta dinner party in Westpark. I was so pleased I was home to enjoy dinner with the group. We had a blast — and maybe too much wine. Then, it was this special night at HOB for Who’s Bad?, followed by an extended makeout session at Cadillac Ranch and Barroom.
Sunday, my mom promised lasagna. I got an extra-special eight-layer mom’s homemade lasagna. It was totally worth the one-and-a-half-hour drive to Ashtabula County. After laughing at old online video archives of B-52’s “Rock Lobster” live performance (geesh, I really hate now that their new album is crap) and The Who performing at the Stones’ Rock n’ Roll Circus (essential musical moment) and dinner music with Martin Denny, it was back to HOB in Cleveland. Matt (from Addicted to Vinyl) is awesome in that he invited me with him to see the Gin Blossoms — one of my favorites from my after-high-school days. I am certainly doing a number in seeing some of my favorite 90s bands perform this year. Another fantastic show. (Matt does a nice review here — thanks again, you rock!).
And a fun update for you. Remember my upstairs neighbor that has been annoying the piss out of me with her endless TV viewing well into the non-daylight hours? Well, last night, all my anger and frustration in not being able to sleep, prompted a hard pounding with a broom handle on the ceiling (so hard, I almost punctured it). I have. HAD IT. Instantly, her TV went on mute (I obviously scared the shit out of her — good, I hope she gets the point). About 20 minutes later, I heard the TV go on again, but at least at a 4 a.m. volume-friendly level. Next time, I will pound on her fucking front door. It is ridiculous that I have to be un-neighborly in such a manner to a woman twice my age.
