Date night at the Velvet Tango Room, whereby my friend enjoyed tinkering with her drink to the tune of too much olive juice on her date with #2. (Sorry, Tatiana!) The single gentleman to my date’s right got a kick out of her antics. You’re welcome for the laughs.
I started with the Maker’s Mark Whiskey Sour (Mmmm… whiskey), turned to the Ramos Gin Fizz (Seriously! Like an alcoholic milkshake!) and Tatiana offered up her new drink-of-the-month, The Cuban – where she described as “like a mojito with their own twist.” First glance, I wasn’t sure if I were up to drinking a martini with a floating fragrant herb leaf, but took a chance to try something new. Thank YOU! My senses surprised and my taste buds satisfied. And Mel, the picky eater/drinker/dater tried something different — and liked it! Oh, I wasn’t talking about my date there.
Date was great, if not a late start. Seriously. 20 minutes between houses and another 20 downtown (and probably 20 more minutes of get-hot time than I take). Good mix of Mel *not* getting drunk, grilling the boy with random questions over drafts post VTR, him taking away my matches so I couldn’t enjoy one last cigarette at the patio at Around the Corner at the close of the evening since by his regard I was “done smoking” for th night. (We switched bars closer to home, if you didn’t catch on). Yup. Next date something a little more flip-flop, a little less heel action. I need to rock a baseball cap and stop all this stress-dressing after my workday.
