This city water is awesome for my hair, but horrible in my mouth.

First things first: is it even SAFE to drink the city tap water? I don’t know about any funky amoebas or parasites that swim around these parts. If it’s only the rust belt taste I need to get used to, then we’re good. And fluoride is good for me, mmm-kay? In Phoenix, you can’t drink the tap water because it’s so hard (TWSS). It will seriously give you the worst cramping stomachache.

Who knows if it’s the perfect water pressure or the water itself that is making my hair awesome, but thanks, Pittsburgh Water Department. Water. Water. Damn, I’m thirsty…

And I want to dye my hair a rich brown for Fall, which I decided I wasn’t going to do, but this red-grown-out look is TIRED. Suggestions on local salons? Anyone need a hair model? I hate to spend a lot on many of these girly-girl services (unless it’s like the PERFECT vintage accessory) or go anywhere snobbish, so keep that in mind. “Reasonable Chic” is my fashion mantra. But I’m starting to enjoy the “Vintage Chic” category more so…

Meanwhile, it took me nearly half an hour to figure out our laundry room. I understand the concept of paying to do laundry, but we have pay-per-load cards that cannot be loaded on our floor. I had to buy a new card (on another floor), which payment didn’t go towards the card balance. And then I had to scrounge for some singles in last season’s purses (on my floor), since I only have a $100 bill that NOBODY WILL BREAK (read: it will sit in my wallet until I lose it) to actually DO some laundry. And I’m not loading all that on the laundry card.

And then my laundry room was locked. But I have $5 to work with today. Until the boyfriend brings me home a $20 (because you know my bank doesn’t exist here in the ‘Burgh).

It’s a good thing I’m not as terrified of elevators as I was last year. It’s more an annoyance than an anxiety. Which helps, you know, when you live in a downtown environment.

So, once THAT’S all done (which this pile is seemingly endless), I can finally get out and enjoy this city before I’m snowed in for six months.

Note on the funky water – it will go away. Water supply is from the Mon river & with all the hot hot hot its increased some kind of algae or some science-y shit that is giving the water a musty smell & taste. Couple weeks of cool & itll all be back to normal. City water is actually not too shabby at all IMHO.

As to salons Ill leave that to someone else…Im hairdresserphobic, refuse to pay a fortune to get mine done and have been seeing the same chic in Carnegie for years cuz she never screws it up & never charges me my left tit to do it!!

My new apartment in Ohio also has the stupid card-based laundry. You spend $10 on a stupid card, and then that $10 does not add any value to the card, you had to put MORE MONEy on the damn thing. So if you lose it, then you’re out whatever was on the card PLUS $10 for a new one. And then the damn machines not only are way too expensive ($1.70 to dry ONE LOAD?! in a small, regular size machine?!) but they don’t work right. Ugh. also, you’ll have to post picutres of the new hair!
