Day of Giving is NOW. Go to Pittsburgh Gives today before midnight to support your favorite local non-profits. This is a really great opportunity to give back to your community, as whatever you donate (minimum $25 for this program) goes even further to fund local causes.
While it’s always difficult to pick JUST ONE nonprofit, today I’m sharing my love (and donations) for two organizations that I whole-heartedly support: Persad Center and Animal Rescue League. Extra Bonus: The President of the Board at Persad is matching all donations dollar-for-dollar. There are MANY local nonprofits that need your gift — none is any more important than the next. But what’s important is that you support whatever and whenever you can (today is just more awesome).
About Pittsburgh Gives:
PittsburghGives is an initiative of The Pittsburgh Foundation. The aim of this initiative is to:
- Increase the level of knowledge about nonprofits in our region
- Leverage or increase individual funding or organizations or an issue in our community
- Spotlight the charitable trends in our region. Where are people giving? What are your community’s nonprofits saying is vital and needed right now?
All donations [today] will receive a pro-rated portion of the match pool. The match pool for 2011 is $725,000 for Pittsburgh Gives.
