P.O.U. to PR (My Piss On You to the PR Dept.) Notice

Hi Great Lakes Science Center!

I know we haven’t been much in the way of friends these last few years — as our last few outings were bland, uneventful and at best, flat in the "Woo!" Department. Through our absence, I truly didn’t miss you much, or really even speak much of our strained relationship. Not until last week, when I read about our mutual chocolate obsession in one of those city weeklies, did I make the decision that perhaps we should bury the hatchet, and rekindle some sort of cordial acquaintance-ship.

Chocolate always brings people together for some silly reason! You know else does? A wine happy hour! With that, we attempted to make couples night plans with you for Valentine’s Day over, what else, wine and chocolate. SEVERAL times we called your work and it just rang and rang and rang — and we left messages. For a few days we awaited a return call from SOMEBODY… only to be provoked to dial your office one more time (solely on irritation at this point). Obviously, I understand the holiday is a busy time and everyone has full schedules, so being that you’re over-booked, well, that I can overlook. But the simple civility such as the having even your assistant or an unpaid volunteer return the phone call would have been appreciated more than anything. The lack of that conjures lasting images of rudeness and apathy.

I was really looking forward to purchasing a box of those "wild" chocolates from Vosges too. Sad for me (albeit  mildly, as I have friends in Chicago that can bring me a box… and yes, there is now the luxury of this thing called the "internet") and a sincerely poor example to set for my dear friend Cleveland.

Truly yours (or not) this Valentine’s Day,
Mel
