OVERWHELMED!

Last night (after finally breaking free of my anger cycle), I finally got really excited about my trip. I’ve been having overwhelming feelings of flight anxiety, with subsequent plane nightmares, and (the usual) monetary woes typical of any last-minute vacation planning, with a side of situational insomnia. The time change has not helped one bit either. I hibernated all weekend and still haven’t yet adjusted to this spring thing.

Again, our cities-to-see list has changed around a bit. With our spontaneous plans, we fell into a bit of a travel snafu with rail passes. Nobody can seem to give us a solid answer on whether we can purchase saver rail passes once we’re in Europe, as opposed to the point-to-point train tickets. Some websites say "absolutely!" while others demand you order them with express shipping prior to leaving the country. Obviously, we’re too late for the latter. And there is also the debate of purchasing — cheaper here or there? Again, no solid answers (and Rick Steve’s 2008 travel book is WAY OFF on price of both passes AND tickets… figures).

For you, a brief itinerary: flying into Frankfurt, driving/training to Berlin, same to Amsterdam, then on to Brussels, Paris, Bern and Munich. If we get extremely motivated, we may drive to Barcelona.

Are you exhausted? If I learned much of anything this weekend, it was the definitive split between how the brains of men and women operate. Man wants me to know schedules, mileage, liters-per-kilometer, petrol prices, train platform numbers, ETA… you get where I’m going. The only way I was convinced by anything was the mere mention of "rental cars are Mercedes" and "Autobahn for fast fast travel." See, it’s all in the way you sell it, rest-of-the-male-population.

By the way, I have only ONE huge duffel/backpack combo packed…
He’ll be carrying it.

Make me laugh
