Ohio City in an email

Folks, my Friday tip off to you. Recently, someone sent an email requesting info for an out-of-town damn Bostonian. Wanting something different to do in the city and unfamiliar with much of “What to DO?!” being an ex-Philly-Chicago-an, I replied with some email suggestions when she asked about Touch and Ohio City.

Yeah, Touch is tons of fun — especially if they have a good DJ. The “scene” there is more an alternative/electro/punk crowd. You’ve got the right idea with Ohio City though! There’s this new restaurant down there that my friend and her boyfriend recently went to (for his birthday, oddly enough!!) called Light Bistro. There are plenty of fun bars on West 25th too — Bier Markt is one of my favorites. And next door, the new Bar Cento just opened.

Here’s some links:
http://www.lightbistro.com — the restaurant I mentioned above
http://www.bier-markt.com/ — the cool beer bar on West 25th
http://www.barcento.com — new wine/restaurant place next door and/or attached
http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/ - awesome brewery, I think their “patio” is open
http://www.theflyingfig.com/ — cute restaurant/drink place in Ohio City
http://www.oldangletavern.com/ — little corner Irish pub with GREAT food and cool live entertainment throughout the weekend.

And then there’s ALWAYS the West Side Market: http://www.westsidemarket.com/ — a GREAT place to people watch and shop and eat on Saturday afternoons!! These are all in the Ohio City area. There’s also Tremont (which is hard to navigate and bars are spaced too far apart) and downtown in the Warehouse District (which I’m growing too old for and tired of LOL). Let me know if this helps!
