Ah yes, the boyfriend. Yes, he is still here — over five months here. Impressing, no? We both have settle nicely into Winter Hibernation Mode, which is welcome after all that holiday traveling. Last week we explored huge lessons in: a) fighting unfairly (me), b) not speaking (me) and c) playing the "I’m fine" game (ahem, me). There was also a bonus round of listening to the saddest songs created (on my new iPod TOUCH!) all while sobbing uncontrollably and feeling seriously, seriously sad and heartbroken (again, me). And as most couples fight, I cannot for the life of me remember how it all started (I’m sure it was me, me, me… duh). Now that we have that path mowed (and I’ve moved into my traditional PMS Territory), I realized that I just need to stop, drop and roll… wait, wrong lesson — I just need to stop and grab him and hug him (no, seriously, it helped everything). Then, in full loving mode, he sent flowers to my desk Friday afternoon (while he was away for a few days) to brush off any lingering or unsettled feelings. Upon his return, I made lasagna (for him, but ended up being for myself) AND gosh-darn-it, I finally won a round of Apples to Apples! His parents visited for a fun-filled weekend of home improvement projects (this time, really for him)… where we both were tested yet again, but this time in the patience department. He stayed calm and, of course, I just laughed when a day-full-o-work with bricks and liquid nails went into the shitter… or in this case, all over the dining room floor. We’re finding all new ways to bond.
Oh, and for the record, "technically" he did not see me cry cry (maybe some pre-waterworks productions), but damn did I look the mess when I finally decided to wave my white flag. Also for your inquiring minds, this was not our first fight (which I’m sure doesn’t even count because that one we were drunk and forced to go home together).
Reading: Haven’t been motivated… Oh, but the "Foreclosure Crisis" series got me reading the PD again (if only for five days). Who cares if only I was waiting for the paper to poorly portray one more "sob" story?
Esteban gets base on balls with: "Minor Swing" by Belleruche, "So-So" by Brooke Waggoner (she’ll send you the link to download the entire EP for FREE!), "Sober Driver" by Dengue Fever and "Alone All Day" by Paul Michel.
