With all intentions to head to Chicago this past weekend for a friend’s bachelorette party, it just was not in my current budget. Hello, new laptop! (Blah)
After realizing I would be available for the weekend, M² mentioned his parents had tickets to see Larry the Ca
ble Guy at the Taft Theater in Cincinnati. Hell yes for some hilarious comedy, right? First off, the tickets were excellent — center stage on the floor with no huge mullets in my way or anything. The bonus with these tickets was our invitation to a pre-show meet-and-greet with Larry. He was a really cool guy, and no, he does not have an accent when off stage. Once his act started, it took me 20 minutes to catch wind of his comedic prowess through his strong (fake) drawl. During photo ops, he commented that my hair reminded him of some chick from Entertainment Tonight — which, I’m hoping, is not Steven Cojocaru.
Afterward, we went to Hofbräuhaus in Newport with M²’s family to enjoy huge steins of beer (more like individual pitchers) and awesome German food. We split appetizers of stuffed pretzels, sauerkraut balls, fried pickles, potato pancakes, then I tried to polish off the "Wurst and Käse Salat."
When I felt my German skills were back up to par (ie: drunk enough to speak fluently), we met up with one of M²’s college friends at Olives at the Ludlow Garage in the Gaslight District. My drink tasted only as a whiskey-and-ginger should, with what resembled homemade ginger ale. So fantastic, and now I’m totally craving a night out at Velvet Tango Room! Another crazy cab driver later, we went back to close down the hotel bar at the Hyatt (Champs, but not Champps). Far be it for us to deny the super idea of purchasing a bottle of white wine to bring back to the room either. Apparently, we didn’t have enough alcohol yet.
Which leads me to the hangover-to-end-all hangovers throughout the day on Sunday. My sorry ass had to sleep it off in Cincinnati.
