A continuation of emailed suggestions for Cleveland Nights Out for out-of-towners:
Lola is the ONLY option you should consider for dinner (quite possibly the best food in Cleveland…). Lola is near House of Blues in the E4th
Street/Euclid area — world-class food, service and think Iron Chef WINNER when you make your reservations. Other restaurant options include (if you cannot get reservations): Vivo, Flannery’s (fantastic Irish bar food) and mexican fares of Zocalo. There is also Corner Alley — a funky bowling alley with a pretty decent menu. What could be better working off all that food than a couple rounds of attempting a turkey?
Pickwick and Frolic
(also on E4th) has a great martini lounge downstairs and restaurant
upstairs. The complex also includes a comedy club called Hilarities. Be sure to enjoy the midnight martini show on weekends, if you make it through all those martinis!
A few places around that same area to cap off the night: swanky lounge-y restaurant thing called Wonder
Bar on that same alley, View (which has an awesome rooftop deck, save for more perfect Cleveland weather). We went for my sister’s Bachelorette Party at the end of the night (in October) and it had a great crowd — what, a place in Cleveland where everyone is dancing? Check out the House of Blues too — as the rest of the chain around the world, there’s always good music.
If you feel as though you’ve cleaned up your act enough for the night, head back to Flannery’s for some Irish Car Bombs, then further down Prospect for local holes in the Gateway District: Winking Lizard, Boneyard and Nick’s Sports Corner. You’ll thank me later that Nick’s was still serving buffalo chicken sandwiches at close.

Boring, again.

Lola IS the best food in Cleveland. It is just so good you can’t believe it. Make reservations a month in advance if you want to visit on a weekend. The service is also excellent - those servers KNOW their food and wine. Alos, if there’s someone famous in town that weekend, they WILL be there. Courtney Cox and David Arquette were there a couple Saturdays ago when I was there.
Menu item suggestion: you MUST try the braised beef pierogies. You just have to.

You know, I can’t be “on” every single day of the year.
If you have something more un-”boring,” please feel free to post your suggestions.

To some people, award-winning dining and hearing about their city becoming better every day is boring. Sad, really.

in the e. 4th (gateway) neighborhood, i humbly suggest aj roccos as it is still the only place in town where one can order an expertly poured draught guinness with a shot of freshly brewed, locally roasted espresso! and……they routinely feature live reggae. how much better can it get!?!
