Ah, speed dating. I have mixed feelings about the Catholic Speed Dating event at St. Ladislas Church on April 4. First off, I am Catholic, but blasphemous as it may be, I don’t regularly follow the values and virtues of the Church (go ahead, I dare you to throw your stones), so what use would any "perfect man" in that room have for your unremarkable Easter/Christmas kind-of-girl? While I am convinced this is probably a fair opportunity for a woman to catch a "good guy," the absence of an age group is especially bothersome. Just by the generic photo attached to the email (and how in the world did I get on this mailing list?), I would guess majority of the happy single people pictured are in their early 20s. C’mon, Catholics can’t last that much longer as virgins. My misfortune (beyond trying to bag some hot 20-something), would be I would walk into a room with 50-something divorcees. Oh, wait, Catholics don’t believe in that buffoonery either. Crap.
For those that are interested (and how very un-Catholic of you to read a blog such as mine): Come for a fun and relaxing evening, and meet other adults who share your faith and values. After registering, come back with your high school English books and a red pen to see how much fun you can find in this copy: Speed Dating 101 — Speed dating is fun night out, where you are guaranteed to me meet new people and possibly even meet that special someone whom you’ve been looking for. During the event you will rotate randomly through a series of 7 minute dates. Who exactly you will be matched with, we cannot say until all of the registrations have been received. At the end of the night you submit a form with those people with whom you are interested in seeing again. Pairs who both indicated an interest in each other will receive their matches info.You’ve got nothing to loose, and everything to gain, see you at catholic speed dating!
Misspellings, superrogatory words, and extraneous prepositions, oh my! See, we Catholics don’t have use for everyday grammar skills. We just need to get hitched quick and start popping out some new congregation members.
