At roughly 2:17am last night (yeah, I sleep with my iPhone under my pillow and grabbed it for the time), we were awakened (awoken? what happened to my English?) to a seriously loud ruckus outside.
Seems that Barroom has succeeded in bringing underage-drunk shitbags to our neighborhood with its inception of a College ID night on Thursdays. Does anyone remember the incidents that resulted from Spy Bar and its College Night?
A friend of ours — also lives in East 4th neighborhood — said that a HUGE brawl erupted (yeah, a girl fight… with douchebags videotaping it), and continued from Barroom to Corner Alley (probably further, as the sound slowly drowned out down the street). The problem, I understand is with aforementioned shitbags… and well, quite frankly, the Cleveland Police. Why? BECAUSE THEY WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.
Nowhere.
And this is exceptionally common in the East 4th neighborhood. I HEAR cops. But typically, they are speeding down the Euclid corridor to incidents around Public Square.
Since moving downtown, in just mere months, I have noticed an incredible increase in the amount of panhandlers (a lot with shoes too nice to be homeless; I’m not stupid) — multiple people stand around constantly outside the entrance of The Arcade and hang out in the alley way outside restaurants on East 4th and the horribly unsettling antics of the young-something Warehouse District crowd. The woo-woo girls are a whole other post, but equally as annoying.
I have commented endlessly about the disturbing corner front on 4th & Euclid that remains empty and well, cluttered with construction shit. The window and doors seem constantly broken into as well - you would think by now that the DCA (Downtown Cleveland Alliance) would give some thought as to the eyesore this is, being RIGHT at the beginning (or end, depending which direction) of a hot street and entertainment district. HUGE eyesore. Seriously, get some wood and cover up the windows or something. I think it invites bad intentions.
Oh, and when we were away in Akron a couple weekends ago, our apartment garage door was graffiti-tagged. ON EAST 4th, people. The only rare event that I see men in blue is if s/he is hired privately. There is zero police presence. And I’ll say it again, it will only get worse — especially with drunk teenagers (I don’t care how much you card or check ID, I used to go to College ID Nights… I know, they are drunk).
I once heard some young girl screaming in the middle of the night that her purse was stolen by someone running by… and her fucking FRIEND yelled at her because she didn’t chase him. I’m settled with, the younger they are, the more stupid they are — and worse still, when intoxicated.
Last night, some girl kept going back to the intersection where Corner Alley is — “This is where we fought! Tee tee!” like it’s some kind of fucking joke. It’s not. And I sincerely hope the CPD has its radar up to Barroom, so we don’t have similar West 6th mentality haps. And even more sincerely, that something within the local police department is fixed BEFORE the fucking casino mentality moves in. If you ask me, I already predict a whole lot of trouble. And no, I’m not some bible-thumping, conservative, broken homes kinda bullshit non-supporter.
Twenty minutes later, all was calm again… but WTF?! Do I have to go through this EVERY FUCKING Thursday night now? I’ma choke a bitch, for real. If only to get her to shut the fuck up.

I fear this outcome as well. It’s the primary reason I’ve been opposed to the casino issue in Cleveland.
