I am a self-proclaimed BAD ASS now with five tattoos:

I know! I'm a total geek.
It didn’t hurt, which is a foreign (un)feeling between tattoos and my body. I nearly ALWAYS teeter on the brink of passing out (or once actually doing so, upon getting my tongue pierced). You know, the spotted line of sight, hot flashes, woozy/drunk/pukey sensation. None of that with this one. I came prepared with my Tattoo First Aid Kit, including: hard candies and can of Rockstar energy drink (all good means of instant increase of blood sugar… or, just sugar, as it were).
The rest of my Saturday was pretty scattered: as previously posted, I went up in the Terminal Tower’s Observation Deck (seriously, was there ever a jingle for the Terminal Tower? Because I can still hear my dad singing to us a song about it as kids. The Terminal TOWERRRRRRRR… Perhaps he’s just clever).
My tattoo was midday, so afterward it was roller derby time! Bout #1 with the Burning River Roller Girls was so much fun, and the ladies had a GREAT turnout of fans at the Wolstein Center. I freakin love this sport, and I cannot wait for Fresh Meat August. YES! I know I could likely be “ready” to try out next week, but I want to be really, really good come 2011 drafts. Like, Rookie of the Year good.
We walked back home, checking out some bars on Prospect on our way back to East 4th. We were happy to realize Forti’s IS still open (I swear we’ve gone several times to a very, very dark bar and closed-looking bar. Good to know it’s not shuttered permanently). We’ve heard mixed reviews about RJ Bolands — everything from poor service to horrible food to overpriced drinks. I was excited that SOMETHING would be taking the space – but incredibly disappointed by its horrible layout. Bolands was crowded, but not the kind of people I particularly want to hang out with (read: Cadillac Ranch types).
Next on our newly-opened list was Caddy Shack — a virtual golf simulation bar (is that redundant because I’m not sure exactly how to categorize this place). This bar was HUGE — great selection of seating and TVs (and a couple black leather couches scattered around in perfect proximity to televisions). I think this will be a good place for a bachelor party start to the night (yes, we all know you’ll end up at a strip club later), as a competitor to Corner Alley.
Rounding out our Saturday night was our ever-popular night cap at The Greenhouse Tavern. No frites allowed. We can’t help it. It’s ALWAYS on our way home.
