Without further moments wasted waiting through three light cycles for the “walk” to appear to cross Cedar, here are a few highlights from moments YOU may have missed… or I just didn’t tell you about (and no apologies for saving you from the full drama by extending my bulleted list):
- Chautauqua — my first trip there during July 4th weekend (or ever). A seriously-needed long weekend of relaxation with boating and other fun activities, many of which included cookout meals, an attempt to learn Texas Hold ‘em and diner food for breakfast. And the company was rather fantastic.
- For pre-4th-holiday activities, I returned to Shooters for the first time since having my last conversation with L (and if you’ve been paying attention for longer than a few months, that was three years ago). Surreal, being that again, the 4th has become a milestone in relationship memories. Bah. I then lit many, many sparklers with my dad and sister way over in far east Lake County…and watched Cleveland fireworks on television.
- White water rafting and camping — our travel group has increased to around 120 peeps now. The river was really weak this year, but nothing short of a great time. So happy to catch up with my “catch” from Denver. Oh, also reigned supreme in Flip-Cup and the fun game played with the frisbee through two sticks with cups on the top.
- Summit County Fair — yeah, that was this past weekend. Eh. Fried cheese is ALWAYS good… as well as the smell of horse manure in 90-degree temperatures.
- Man Man at Lime Spider — holy crap, one of the craziest live shows in which I’ve ever had a part. The potential at seeing Man Man at such an intimate venue again will most likely be rare — so sorry you missed it! I had an extra ticket too; all you had to do was call. I also have a sprained left ankle and a seriously bruised right ankle (yes, ACE bandages look totally rockin’ with flip-flops). I know, I’m 30, I crowd bashed way hard and sweat my ass off as if I just ran 26 miles. A bittersweet return to my former punk glory.
- Champion of Trivial Pursuit game night with my sisters. My winning “pop culture” question: What brand of bottled water does Cameron Diaz claim to wash her face with? (Seriously felt bad for my sisters as their questions were chosen from the archives of the criminally mensa-nated).
There is so much more going on, but that’s what you get for now…
